The short answer
Wedding cakes are priced by the serving: from $12 per serving in buttercream and from $16 per serving in fondant. Celebration cakes start from $180.
That rate is where the price begins. Flavor, shape, structure and the crown are added to it, as the next section sets out. Every figure on this page is an estimate, and the atelier confirms it after a consultation.
How the price is built
Sponge, filling and covering scale with the number of servings, so they are priced per serving. Structure, the crown and finishing touches are studio time, so they are flat fees.
Finish, per serving
Smooth or semi-naked buttercream is from $12 per serving; fondant is from $16 per serving. Fondant is rolled, draped, trimmed and polished by hand on every tier.
Flavor and filling
Vanilla bean sponge and Swiss meringue buttercream carry no premium. Premium ingredients move the rate: pistachio & rose sponge, +$2.00 per serving; pistachio cream filling, +$1.75 per serving. The full list of flavors sets out what is on offer.
Shape
Round tiers carry no premium. Square tiers add 8% and hexagonal tiers 15%: they lose more cake to the trim and need their corners worked by hand.
Structure
A single tier needs none. Each tier above the first is charged for internal support, separate bakes and assembly on site: two tiers add $75; three, $150; four, $225.
The crown
Made once for the cake, whatever its size, so it is a flat fee of studio time. Fresh florals add $85; gilded leaf, $140; sugar flowers, $260, because every petal is sculpted, wired, dusted and left to cure. A bare top adds nothing.
Finishing touches
Some are applied at every tier, so they scale with the cake: gold leaf accents add $45 a tier, piped pearls $30 and a ganache drip $28. Pressed edible flowers are applied once, for $65.
Delivery and setup
Included across the DMV. Further afield is by arrangement, with travel quoted alongside the design.
The minimum
Every commission starts from $180, the least that covers a consultation, delivery and setup.
Four designs, priced
Four designs, each estimated exactly as the studio estimates any cake. Each is confirmed after a consultation; none is a final price. Servings run from the guaranteed count to the number reached with smaller slices.
| Design | Servings | Estimate |
|---|---|---|
| One tierSmooth buttercream, vanilla bean with Swiss meringue buttercream, the top left bare | 10–16 | from $180about $18 per serving |
| Two tiersSmooth buttercream, vanilla bean with Swiss meringue buttercream, fresh florals | 25–35 | from $460about $18 per serving |
| Three tiersSmooth buttercream, pistachio & rose with pistachio cream, fresh florals and piped pearls | 45–65 | from $1,034about $23 per serving |
| Four tiersFondant, vanilla chiffon with vanilla crème pâtissière, sugar flowers | 80–110 | from $1,825about $23 per serving |
The single tier shows the minimum: its servings would come to $120, which is below the $180 floor, so the estimate is lifted to it. The per-serving figure divides the estimate by the guaranteed count. It runs above the $12 and $16 rates because it carries the structure, the crown and any finishing touches as well.

Price your own design in the studio: choose the tiers, finish, flavors and crown, and the estimate follows as you build. Send the design with your enquiry and it is refined with you.

What is included
- A consultation, to talk through the date, the guest count, the venue and the design.
- For weddings, a private tasting, scheduled once the design is underway and before the final flavors are set.
- Delivery and setup across the DMV, timed so that the cake is set in its final place shortly before guests arrive. Further afield is by arrangement, with travel quoted.
Paying for it
A request deposit of $50 sends your design to the atelier; it counts toward your deposit, and is refunded in full if we cannot take the commission. Once we approve the design, a deposit of 35% of the total (at least $150, or half the total for smaller commissions) holds your date. It is non-refundable, but it can move once to a new date within 12 months.
The balance falls due 14 days before the event, once the final design and guest count are confirmed. What is refunded, and when, is set out under cancellations and refunds.
How it compares
Published surveys give a sense of what couples spend nationally. The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study, of US couples married in 2025, put the average spend on the wedding cake at $530, with a typical (middle) figure of $500. Zola’s “What weddings really cost”, updated March 6, 2026, put cake and desserts together at about $917 on average.
Where a bespoke cake sits against those national figures depends on its size, because each serving is priced rather than the cake as a whole: the two-tier design above, for 25–35 guests, is from $460; the three-tier, for 45–65, is from $1,034. The handwork is the difference: fondant rolled and polished on every tier, sugar flowers sculpted petal by petal. And delivery and setup are part of the price, not added to it.
An average blends many kinds of cake and many kinds of wedding. It is a guide to a budget, not a quote.
